Mazda 2: Neutral Switch
NEUTRAL SWITCH INSPECTION
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the neutral switch. (See NEUTRAL SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
3. Inspect for continuity between the neutral switch terminals using an ohmmeter.
- If not as specified, replace the neutral switch. (See NEUTRAL SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
Specification
CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION (CPP) SWITCH INSPECTION
1. Verify that the CPP switch is installed properly.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Disconnect the CPP switch connector. (See CLUTCH PEDAL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
4. Inspect for continuity between the CPP switch terminals using an ohmmeter.
- If not as specified, replace the CPP switch.

Specification
VARIABLE TUMBLE SHUTTER VALVE POSITION SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
CAUTION:
- The variable tumble shutter valve position sensor cannot be removed as a
single unit.
When replacing the variable tumble shutter valve position sensor, replace it together with the variable tumble shutter valve actuator as a single unit.
1. Remove the variable tumble shutter valve actuator. (See VARIABLE TUMBLE SHUTTER VALVE ACTUATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
VARIABLE TUMBLE SHUTTER VALVE POSITION SENSOR INSPECTION
CAUTION:
- The variable tumble shutter valve position sensor cannot be removed as a
single unit.
When replacing the variable tumble shutter valve position sensor, replace it together with the variable tumble shutter valve actuator as a single unit.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the fresh-air duct and air cleaner as a single unit. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).
3. Disconnect the variable tumble shutter valve actuator connector.
4. Verify terminal A value (variable tumble shutter valve position sensor output voltage) when battery voltage is applied to terminal B or D.
- If there is any malfunction, replace the variable tumble shutter valve
actuator.
